Follower gifts
The follower gift is a specialized feature designed to encourage potential backers to start following your project before it officially launches. Leveraging this feature during the draft stage is essential for building an engaged audience prior to the crowdfunding period.
I. Strategic Value and Audience Engagement
The primary goal of offering a follower gift is to gather as many followers as possible before the campaign starts, which significantly increases its potential success.
- Recommended Duration: It is recommended that your draft page runs for at least 1 month to allow sufficient time to collect followers.
- Building Your Backer Base: Followers are the core group that can become your potential backers once the crowdfunding begins.
- Communication: Every follower receives an email notification about every published update and the start of the campaign. This builds engagement and trust in your project.
- Avoiding Mistakes: Not offering any sort of follower gift is listed among the common mistakes creators should avoid during the draft stage.
II. Gift Options
When a user clicks "follow" on your campaign, you can offer them a follower gift in one of two formats:
- A discount on their pledge.
- A free item they will receive as part of their pledge during the crowdfunding stage.
It is crucial to note that the follower gift is only available to those who pledge in your crowdfunding campaign. Simply clicking follow is not enough to receive the gift.
III. Step-by-Step Setup
To enable a gift, go to "Project settings" -> "Project details" -> "Follower gifts". You'll see the following window:
If you choose a discount, you need to enter the discount value below. The discount will be applied to the pledge at checkout.
If you choose an item, It will be added for free to the pledge at checkout for those who followed before the launch and then backed during the crowdfunding campaign in any form. Remember to publish the item first. Otherwise, it won't appear in the search.
NOTE: Unless it has not yet been added, you cannot edit the gift after publishing the campaign draft.
