How to Manage Access and Close Your Pledge Manager
Your Indiegogo Pledge Manager provides flexible controls for managing backer orders, collecting shipping, and handling late pledges. This guide covers how to set different access levels, manage last-minute additions, and permanently close your pledge manager for fulfillment.
All settings can be found in your project dashboard under Project settings -> Orders.
Managing Pledge Manager Access Levels
You can control who can access your pledge manager and what they can do.
- Open (Accepting New Pledges): This is the default state for a live pledge manager. Original backers can manage their pledges, and new supporters ("late pledgers") can place new orders.
- How to set: Set the status to Open and ensure the "Accept new pledges" toggle is set to Yes.
- Open for Specific Groups: You can restrict access to only specific groups of backers that you define. This allows you to open the pledge manager for select backers while it remains closed to the public.
- How to set: Change the status to Open for specific groups and select the groups you wish to grant access to.
- Shipping Only Mode: This is a "soft-close" mode, ideal for when you have locked your product counts but still need to collect shipping fees and addresses.
- What it does: Backers can only add/edit their shipping details and pay for shipping. They can no longer add new items or edit the contents of their pledge.
- How to set: Keep the status as Open, but switch the "Accept new pledges" toggle to No and the "Shipping only" toggle to Yes.
Allowing Last-Minute Add-ons (Preparing for Shipping Stage)
There is a separate option to allow backers to add items after the main pledge manager has closed but before you have locked all orders for fulfillment. This is useful for last-minute upsells.
- What it does: This allows backers to add new items to their existing, paid pledges. They cannot remove items they have already paid for or change their shipping address (unless it is allowed using the option for it).
- How to set: In your Orders settings, switch the toggle to Yes next to "Allow adding new items in "Preparing for shipping' stage". This only works for orders in the "preparing for shipping" stage.
How to Permanently Close Your Pledge Manager
Closing your pledge manager is the final step you take before exporting your order data for your fulfillment partner.
Note: This is a permanent action. Once closed, backers will not be able to edit their pledges or add shipping details.
- Navigate to Project settings -> Orders.
- Change the pledge manager status to Closed.
This will lock all orders and prevent any further modifications by your backers, allowing you to export a final, accurate list for shipping.
