Shipping - Setup Overview
Accurate shipping setup is a key part of launching your pledge manager.
You can set up shipping after a successful crowdfunding campaign, or right away if you run a pledge manager for a project imported from another platform.
The system calculates shipping in two ways:
• by weight
• by quantity
Both methods start with the same foundation:
• Shipping Models
• Shipping Zones
To edit your shipping settings, go to Project > Settings > Shipping and taxes.
Below is an overview of every tool and feature that supports shipping in your project.
In this section:
1. Establishing Shipping Models (The Foundation)
A Shipping Model contains settings that define the shipment options backers can choose.
A model can represent
• a courier
• a postal service
• a specific hub
• local pickup
Add as many models as your project needs.
Prices in each model can be different.
2. Defining Geographic Availability (Locations and Shipping Zones)
Shipping Zones specify the geographic locations where each Shipping Model applies.
They are the next required step after you create your models.
3. Shipping Mode Configuration: By Weight
The By Weight mode calculates costs based on the total weight of the order.
Set weight ranges for your each zone to support this mode.
4. Shipping Mode Configuration: By Quantity (Shipping Cost Rules)
Use the By Quantity mode to calculate shipping based on the number of products in the order rather than package weight.
This mode uses the same Shipping Models and Shipping Zones you already set up.
5. Optional Setup: Shipping Stages (Multi-Wave Shipping)
Shipping stages are an optional setup that define and manage how you send pledges and support multi wave fulfillment.
6. Optional Setup: Shipping Hubs
Shipping hubs let you manage stock and shipping from more than one location.
Every project starts with one default hub.
If you create new hubs, you can assign them to shipping zones and control stock for each hub separately.
7. Final Verification of Costs
Use the Shipping calculation tool to confirm that your shipping setup works as expected.
Go to Project Settings > Shipping and taxes > Shipping calculation to access it.
Add the products you want to test and compare the results for each zone and model.
