What changed with the Platform Upgrade?

On October 16th 2025, Indiegogo migrated to a new version of the platform powered by Gamefound technology. This upgrade introduces new tools for creators and a smoother experience for backers.

Below is a summary of the key changes affecting campaigns and user accounts:

Pre-Launch & Drafts

  • New Terminology: "Pre-Launch" pages are now managed as Drafts/Previews. You can build up your campaign preview, already publish updates as well as communicate with potential backers in the comments section. See here for more details on how to set up the preview for your campaign.
  • Reservations Discontinued: The "Pre-launch Reservations" feature is no longer available.
    • Existing Reservations: If you collected reservations prior to the migration, they have been moved to the new system as payments tied to campaign orders. Unclaimed reservations appear as "empty orders" that can be applied toward rewards.
  • Draft Migration: Drafts created in 2025 were migrated automatically. Older drafts (from 2024 or earlier) require a manual request to be transferred.

Funding & Campaign Status

  • Flexible Funding Discontinued: Flexible Funding is no longer available for new campaigns.
    • Live Campaigns: If you had a live Flexible Funding campaign during the migration, it was automatically converted to Fixed Funding. Your goal was adjusted based on funds raised at the time of migration to ensure fairness.
  • Campaign End Dates: Once a campaign is live on the new platform, the end date cannot be changed.

Fees & Payments

  • Simplified Fee Structure: The fee structure is now a flat 5% platform fee plus a payment processing fee (3% + $0.20/€0.20 per transaction). Details can be found here.
  • Tipping Policy: Backers are no longer asked to tip Indiegogo. Optional tips now go directly to the creator to help them reach their funding goals.
  • Payment Processors:
    • Migrated Campaigns: Campaigns that were live before October 16th continue to process payments and receive payouts via Stripe.
    • New Campaigns: Campaigns created after the upgrade will onboard with Adyen, allowing for over 20 global payment options (including Stretch Pay).

Campaign Tools & Terminology

  • Perks are now "Rewards": Items claimed by backers are now referred to as Rewards.
  • InDemand is now "Late Pledge": The post-campaign funding phase previously known as "InDemand" is now called Late Pledge. It functions similarly allowing for upselling and can be easily converted to the new Pledge Manager stage.
  • In Pledge Manager stage you can continue offering products to new backers and manage orders along with collecting shipping address and fees. See here for more details.
  • Late Pledge and Pledge Manager tools are also available for external campaigns.
  • Secret Perks: These are no longer supported in their previous form. They have been replaced by User and Product Groups, which allow creators to assign exclusive rewards to specific backer lists. You will find more details on how to replicate the Secret Perks feature here.

Compliance & Taxes (For Creators)

For Backers

  • Accounts & History: You do not need a new account. Your existing login credentials work, and your full backer history has been migrated,.
  • Managing Contributions: Shipping addresses and payment details can now be updated directly through the "Pledges & orders" section in the new Pledge Manager.
